NOTE: I (that's me, Clare) don’t want to over-schedule our retreat, which might interrupt your snooze or swim or treatment. Hence why I’ve given you a room service credit for the nights when we don’t take dinner together as a group. It’s high quality and prompt. Alternatively, feel free to put this credit towards dinner with a fellow retreat participant in either the family-style trattoria or the more formal restaurant.

Workshop Content and Facilitators

The creativity session is very light touch, playful and, to be honest, totally optional. If you carry the scars of Mrs Smith’s acerbic words about your (lack of) artistic talents when you were eight, then know this: mucking about with ink, pencils, watercolours, paper folding, tearing, and scrunching feels delicious.

When you focus on the feeling of the doing it and not the outcome, then you are in flow and feeling free. That’s what these creative experiments are about.

We will do some walking at a slow pace during one of our workshops. The terrain is a mostly flat with some steep and uneven surfaces plus some stairs in places. We'll walk for no more than 10 minutes at a time during the 90 minute workshop.

If you are injured or extremely unfit, then you may want to skip these sessions. Contact me to discuss.

There are optional T'ai chi and/or stretching the meridians classes.

Clare Barry is a writer from London who writes about creativity and human connection in the digital world and London in the real one. Clare is the founder of Urban Curiosity - a wellness and creativity company that helps busy people slow down. Read more about her here and find out why Clare created Reviving Retreats here.

OK, enough of writing about myself in the third person. I will lead sessions using my Urban Curiosity applied mindfulness methodology. You will learn how to reframe your digital life and get clear on what matters to you in real life. You will experiment with vision-boarding and creative practices for wellbeing. And you will discover simple ways to get in touch with your inner wisdom and listen to your intuition in the day-to-day.

Check out the testimonials on this page for others' thoughts on my approach, my teaching style and retreats.

Karen Ward is the founder of Curiosity Inc., a media and education company that helps individuals and organisations reconnect with their curiosity so they can grow and do good in the world.

In 2012, in an act that she describes as “creative destruction”, Karen blew up her successful business - a research and innovation consultancy. She had grown it to a million-dollar business and yet, in the throes of burnout and a mini midlife crisis, she walked away and set out on an adventure of personal growth. She packed up her life of 20 years in Toronto to go housesitting around Canada and the US and ultimately moved to a new city to give birth to a new identity, career, and vision for Curiosity Inc.

During our retreat Karen will lead us in a dynamic workshop called Unleashing Your Curiosity for Good + Growth. As adults we tend to get rewarded for knowing. We’re supposed to have things figured out, know what we’re doing, know the answers. But what if the path to a fulfilling life is as much - maybe more - about asking and exploring the questions than it is about finding or knowing the answers?

ACCESSIBILITY: The resort hotel is fully accessible. Some of the workshops will be in the grounds and these areas are not fully accessible to anyone with mobility challenges. I'm sorry if this means the retreat won't be suitable for you.

REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS: This retreat is about commitment to your wellbeing and your professional growth. I invite you to register mindfully and fulfil this gift to yourself. Please take a moment to review the refund and cancellation policy before you apply for the retreat: say “yes’ to the experiences that you truly desire and show up. Honour this investment in yourself. Your retreat spot is non-refundable. No exceptions. Not even personal emergencies. Thank you for understanding :: Please consider travel insurance to protect yourself against changes in your circumstances :: You may transfer your retreat place to a friend (they’ll love you!) :: Friend can’t make it either? You can let me know and I’ll offer it as a special bursary to a suitable woman in need of this retreat. She’ll tell you how much this experience meant in her handwritten thank you note ::  Those options don’t suit you? You can get a private 1-hour meeting with me (Skype or face-to-face) to ask any questions you desire. I will email you all the relevant handouts and resources from the retreat. And I’ll mail you your goody bag ::  There is no refund for leaving the retreat early or arriving after the scheduled start time. There is no reimbursement for any part of the programme that you choose to opt out of :: I reserve the right to cancel the retreat prior to its start, in which case you will receive a full refund.

Literally straight after it [the workshop], I went across the road and bought a book to fill with the ideas that flowed as a result. The next few hours were spent happily writing away in a local park in my complete element.
— Natasha Blok, multi-sensory consultant
I recently returned to the UK after a stint working in LA and Clare helped me get clear about pursuing the kind of projects that I love. I enjoyed her thoughtful approach and feel more confident about my plans for the coming year.
— Chris Miller, filmmaker and television presenter
There’s a lot to be said for giving oneself “permission” to have time away from all the routines and technological noise of everyday life to explore the inner mind a bit. I can’t recommend this retreat highly enough to anybody who wants to take some time out.
— SZ, digital publisher
Many of our participants mentioned how Clare’s talk really resonated with them and their busy lives. Several of our attendees mentioned that they left the class feeling uplifted.
— Corporate client
Having a social media meltdown? A digital burnout? One antidote is the new series of Urban Curiosity Walkshops. Hit the streets with pen and paper and, most importantly, your attention span.
— TimeOut London
Clare is such a creative dynamo. She has taught me to let go of my own control-freakery. Sometimes it takes me a while to admit that she is right (but she usually is).
— Jacqui Lofthouse, novelist and writing coach
Her talents range from writing prowess to finding practical solutions to life’s challenges. Clare is unstoppable. What’s more her enthusiasm for life is infectious.
— Beatrice Aidin, journalist and editor
